Anne of Green Gables

I had not read this book in so long.  It was a refreshing read and reminded me in so many ways of my middle child.  If there is a scrape to get into, she will find it.  It reminded me of how precious a child's imagination can be and how every child has the propensity for good in them, even when they are being not so good.  I loved the descriptons that Anne gave everything and how she connected so strongly with the natural world around her.  I loved her free spirit and her determination to succeed and love life no matter what was said about her or how things might go.  I have enjoyed re-visiting this book and will probably pick up the rest of the series sometime down the road.

It also reminded me how much children crave love from someone.  It did not matter to Anne that Matthew and Miranda were older and not the "perfect" parents that one might imagine.  She wanted their love in the worst way and gave them unconditional love in return.  I can imagine how much sleep Miranda probably lost worrying about how Anne would turn out and would she behave in public and did she REALLY do THAT?  But through it all, Anne made them proud and loved them as though they were truly her parents.
